Renée Zellweger reflects on Bridget Jones legacy
Renée Zellweger described playing the iconic Bridget Jones as a “liberating” experience, while also commenting on the public’s “obsession” with the character’s appearance.
The Oscar-winning actress attended the Tribeca Film Festival, where the cast of the romantic comedy reunited to mark 25 years since its release, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.
Reflecting on the massive success of the “Bridget Jones’s Diary” film series, Zellweger attributed the character’s popularity to the fact that she was “an ordinary girl,” according to People.
“Most leading women in romantic comedies are flawless and fully aligned with the beauty standards of their time. Bridget, however, was not a role model in that sense,” Zellweger said.
