Taylor Swift became, at the age of 36, the youngest woman ever inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the second-youngest person overall to achieve the honor, after Stevie Wonder, AFP reported.

The American star appeared on the red carpet wearing a long black floral-print dress before the ceremony, which took place at a hotel in New York City. The event was reserved for carefully selected guests and was not televised, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.

Other artists inducted into the songwriting hall of fame included Alanis Morissette, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley of KISS, and Kenny Loggins, known for soundtrack hits such as Footloose and Danger Zone from Top Gun.

Songwriters become eligible for the Hall of Fame 20 years after the release of their first commercial song. In Swift’s case, that song was Tim McGraw, released exactly 20 years ago in June 2006.

Since then, Swift has released 12 albums spanning country, pop, and folk music, earning 14 Grammy Awards in the United States, including a record four Album of the Year trophies.

“Swift’s ability to transform herself as a songwriter, move across different musical landscapes, and write with equal credibility in multiple genres is part of her superpower,” according to her profile on the Hall of Fame website.

Taylor Swift has reportedly sold more than 250 million albums worldwide. Her 2023–2024 tour, The Eras Tour, generated a record-breaking estimated $2 billion in revenue.

She is also the female artist with the most songs to reach the Top 10 of the American music chart published by Billboard.

The singer remains highly visible in popular culture. After releasing a country song for the soundtrack of Toy Story 5, she was spotted Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden during an NBA Finals game.

According to entertainment media reports, she may marry Travis Kelce, also 36 years old, on July 3, AFP noted.

The Songwriters Hall of Fame has honored songwriters since 1970. Stevie Wonder was just 32 years old when he was inducted in 1983.
