Natalie Portman opens up about welcoming third child
Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman has spoken publicly for the first time about welcoming her third child with partner Tanguy Destable, revealing how the experience has changed her perspective on life and motherhood.
In a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the 45-year-old actress reflected on how quickly her older children have grown and how welcoming another baby has reminded her of the passage of time, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
Portman shares 15-year-old son Aleph and nine-year-old daughter Amalia with her former husband, French choreographer Benjamin Millepied.
“It reminds me how little they were not so long ago, and how quickly they’ve grown into wonderful people with their own personalities, senses of humor and ideas,” Portman said.
The Black Swan star said the arrival of her third child had brought immense happiness to her family.
She described the experience as a “true miracle,” although she did not disclose the baby’s name, gender or date of birth.
Portman was reportedly seen in public with her third child for the first time in early September, when Destable was photographed carrying the baby in a carrier during a walk through Paris.
The actress, wearing a dark blue dress and white sneakers, was photographed smiling during the outing.
In April, when she confirmed her pregnancy, Portman described expecting another child as both a “privilege” and a “miracle.”
At the time, she also suggested that this would probably be her last child.
“This time I feel at peace because I know myself. I know who I want to spend time with and what kind of people I want to surround myself with. That’s why I’m enjoying this experience every day,” she said.
Portman welcomed her son Aleph in 2011 and daughter Amalia in 2017.
She and Millepied separated in 2023 after more than a decade of marriage and continue to co-parent their two children.
The actress was first publicly linked to Destable, a 46-year-old French DJ and music producer known professionally as Tepr, in 2025.
The couple have generally kept their relationship away from public attention.
However, in her recent interview, Portman also reflected on the values that matter most to her at this stage of her life.
“I’m not ashamed to say it. I think it’s actually very simple: it’s important to be kind to others, to love and to know how to laugh. That’s the only thing that really matters,” she said.
“That’s the most beautiful part of these years. If something doesn’t bring any of those things, I don’t want to spend my time on it,” she added.
