Academy announces 2026 honorary Oscar recipients

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present honorary Oscars for lifetime achievement to actress Glenn Close, animator Floyd Norman, and director Ridley Scott.

The Oscar statuettes will be awarded during the 17th edition of the Governors Awards, scheduled for Sunday, November 15, 2026, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood, CE Report quotes ANSA.

Producers Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler will also receive the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award.

"The Academy's Board of Governors is thrilled to honor five extraordinary individuals this year whose groundbreaking work has forever shaped the art of filmmaking," said Academy President Lynette Howell Taylor. She described Sir Ridley Scott as "a true visionary" and praised Glenn Close for bringing to life "some of cinema's most complex characters throughout her extraordinary career."
