Greece raises wages for hotel workers

The basic salaries of hotel staff in Greece are rising by 2% as of June 1, the Panhellenic Federation of Food and Tourism Workers (POEET) said.

According to POEET, negotiations with employers to set up a professional fund that would guarantee the one-off payment of a bonus on retirement did not work out, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.

Such a provision was included in the collective labor agreement for hotel staff, and the deadline on a decision expired on Sunday.

Therefore, the 2% that would have been employer contributions to the fund have raised hotel staff salaries as follows.

Category A: 1,050 euros
Category B: 1,030 euros
Category C: 1,009 euros
Category D: 989.40 euros

POEET said it would continue to support a professional fund in the near future.
