Italy to raise retirement age by one month in 2027

Starting January 1, 2027, people will retire one month later than this year, while pension payments will be lower for those retiring at the same age.

Next year, the biennial revision of the conversion coefficients applied to accumulated pension contributions will take effect. These coefficients link pension benefits to life expectancy, CE Report quotes ANSA.

In practice, with the same accumulated contributions and the same retirement age, the pension received will be lower. The new coefficient table has been published by the Ministry of Labour.

At age 67, the conversion coefficient will fall from 5.575 to 5.514, while for those retiring at 68, it will decrease from 5.753 to 5.707. The later a person retires, the higher the coefficient will be, although it will still be lower than this year.
