Von der Leyen, Costa welcome Student List’s election victory in Serbia

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa congratulated the Student List on its victory in Serbia’s parliamentary elections.

They stated that the European Union stands ready to support reform efforts in the country, CE Report quotes FENA.

“Today, Serbian citizens turned out in record numbers to shape the future of their country,” they wrote on social media platform X.

Congratulating the Student List on its election victory, the two EU leaders emphasized the European Union’s readiness to support reforms in the areas of the rule of law, media freedom, the fight against corruption, and the strengthening of democratic institutions.

They also expressed their willingness to work together to build Serbia’s future within the European Union.
