Greece had a cash-based state budget surplus of 973 million euros in 2025, while the primary surplus reached nearly 4 billion euros, according to data released by the Bank of Greece.

More specifically, in the period January-December 2025, the cash result of the central government ended in a surplus of 973 million euros, compared with a surplus of 1.031 billion euros for the corresponding months in 2024, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.

During this period, revenues of the regular budget amounted to 73.938 billion euros, up from 69.434 billion euros last year. As for regular budget expenditures, these totaled 65.875 billion euros, compared with 63.428 billion euros in the January-December 2024 period.

Interest payments for servicing public debt increased to 7.17 billion euros from 6.9 billion euros in the previous year.
