Barcelona-Ljubljana flights on the horizon
Spanish low-cost carrier Vueling is planning to launch flights between Barcelona and Ljubljana in November.
According to a report by the Exyuaviation portal, the airline has filed a tentative schedule for the new route, CE Report quotes The Slovenia Times.
According to the preliminary timetable, flights will be operated Airbus A320 twice per week, on Thursdays and Sundays, starting from 16 November, and then increase to three a week in the period between 9 December and 6 January, before returning to two weekly.
The report says Vueling has filed the tentative schedule to indicate its intention to launch the service and reserve airport slots, but tickets are not yet available for purchase and the route is still subject to final confirmation.
If the service launches as planned, it will be the second new route from Ljubljana to Spain this upcoming winter. Latvia's airBaltic will introduce a weekly service to Las Palmas in the Gran Canaria island in the autumn.
Vueling previously flew between Barcelona and Ljubljana in June, July and August 2010. Its owner, Spanish flag carrier Iberia operated flights between Madrid and Ljubljana in summer 2024, but Exyuaviation reports that Barcelona sees the highest demand for flights between Ljubljana and the Iberian Peninsula
The capitals of Slovenia and Catalonia are currently linked by charter flights. The route was last operated on a scheduled basis by Slovenia's former flag carrier Adria Airways, which linked the two cities seasonally over the summer from 2006 until 2012.
