Wizz Air launches new direct flight from Wrocław to Ohrid
Wizz Air landed on Sunday, the first flight from Wrocław, Poland, to the Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport, North Macedonia, carrying 239 passengers.
This marked the official launch of the new route between Ohrid and one of the most attractive Polish cities, CE Report quotes MIA.
The new direct flight Ohrid-Wrocław will continue to operate twice a week, i.e. on Wednesday and Sunday. TAV Macedonia said a new route from Katowice will also launch on June 9, to operate twice a week, i.e. three times a week during the peak summer season.
TAV Macedonia General Manager Nejat Kurt said the new routes represent a significant step in strengthening Ohrid's international connectivity and tourism development.
"The new routes from Wrocław and Katowice to Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport are a strong incentive for the further development of tourism in Ohrid, as well as for deepening the economic and cultural ties between North Macedonia and Poland. We expect these destinations to significantly contribute to increasing the number of visitors and improving the visibility of Ohrid on the European tourist map. We also encourage Macedonian travelers to discover the two stunning Polish cities," said Kurt.
Wizz Air's Corporate Communications Manager Vera Járdán said the new routes will offer more travel opportunities and contribute to the growth of tourist exchange between the two countries.
The airline currently operates flights from Ohrid airport to eight destinations, including the two new routes: Wrocław, Katowice, Dortmund, Memmingen/Munich, Basel-Mulhouse, Stuttgart, Milan-Malpensa and Bratislava.
By the end of June, Ohrid airport will have eight airlines operating to 17 destinations, of which 14 are regular and seasonal routes and three are charter destinations.
