WTO includes Albania in “Best Tourism Villages 2026” initiative

Albania has again been included in the “Best Tourism Villages 2026” initiative by the World Tourism Organization, recognising rural destinations that combine cultural heritage, environmental value and sustainable development.

The news was announced by Tourism, Culture and Sports Minister of Albania Blendi Gonxhja.

He said that the initiative supports rural tourism models that protect local identity, strengthen communities and contribute to the development of local economies, CE Report quotes ATA.

According to Minister Gonxhja, “Albania continues to demonstrate that its villages are a treasure of national identity.”

“With its rich tangible and intangible cultural heritage, breathtaking natural landscapes, living traditions and authentic hospitality, Albania continues to demonstrate that its villages are a treasure of national identity and among the country’s most valuable assets for sustainable tourism development, showcasing Albanian values in one of the sector’s most important international initiatives,” Gonxhja said.
