Sarajevo Airport seeks direct flights to US
A delegation of Sarajevo International Airport, led by Acting Director Dino Selimović, together with Acting Executive Director Slobodan Kadijević, Security Sector Director Senad Malić and Airport Services Sector Director Vedrana Vikić Musić, hosted a delegation from the Embassy of the United States in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the meeting at the airport, the participants discussed opportunities to further strengthen cooperation, with a particular focus on the long-term initiative to establish direct air routes between Sarajevo and destinations in the United States, Sarajevo International Airport said, CE Report quotes FENA.
Particular attention was paid to strengthening economic ties between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States. It was noted that Sarajevo International Airport has been a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AmCham BiH) since August 2026, with joint activities planned for the coming period aimed at connecting Bosnian and American companies and promoting investment, trade, exports and new business partnerships.
The meeting also addressed the importance of protecting critical infrastructure, improving security standards, cooperation with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), cybersecurity, protection against the unauthorized use of drones, as well as the airport’s future development projects, including the planned implementation of an ABC Gates system.
Representatives of the U.S. Embassy toured the airport terminal, the EVIP and the business-class lounge, and were briefed on ongoing development projects and plans to further improve the passenger experience.
Sarajevo International Airport remains strongly committed to developing international connectivity, strengthening security standards and enhancing business cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States. More destinations mean more opportunities for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
