Bulgaria's Varna to host Urban Wine Fest
Varna will host Urban Wine Fest on October 16 and 17, bringing more than 40 Bulgarian wines to Independence Square in the park in front of the Varna State Opera, the organizers said on Wednesday.
After three editions at the ReBonkers cultural venue, the festival is moving outdoors for the first time, placing a special emphasis on Bulgaria's Northern Black Sea wine region. Visitors will be able to explore a carefully curated selection of more than 40 Bulgarian wines, with a focus on the stories behind each bottle, including its origin, grape variety, and the people responsible for its creation, CE Report quotes BTA.
Bulgaria's Northern Black Sea region will take centre stage for the first time in the festival’s programme, as local winemakers will showcase a broader selection of their wines and share insights into the region’s terroir, wineries, and opportunities for wine tourism and related experiences. The organizers emphasized that the festival aims to give residents and visitors a chance to discover the diversity of Bulgarian wine while learning more about the people and places behind it.
Organized by the Bulgarian Association of Wine Professionals (BAWP), Urban Wine Fest is part of a series of events celebrating Bulgarian wine ahead of International Mavrud Day on October 26. The initiative aims to promote the country’s indigenous grape varieties and wine regions, preserve the identity of Bulgarian winemaking, and foster a stronger wine culture and community.
The 2026 edition is supported by the Tourism Ministry, the Agriculture Ministry, and Varna Municipality.
