Balkan win first Bulgarian Basketball Super Cup
Balkan won their first Bulgarian men's basketball Super Cup on Saturday, beating Cherno More 94-71 in front of their home crowd in Botevgrad.
Balkan, the 2025/26 National Basketball League champions, won all four quarters against Bulgarian Cup holders Cherno More: 22-10, 24-23, 20-19 and 28-19.
The hosts raced into an 8-0 lead in less than 90 seconds and were 22-10 ahead after the opening quarter. Back-to-back three-pointers from Remy Abell helped Cherno More respond early in the second, but Balkan maintained a comfortable advantage and led 46-33 at half-time, CE Report quotes BTA.
Cherno More cut the deficit to single figures several times after the break, before Balkan produced a 5-0 run in the final 30 seconds of the third quarter to lead 66-52. The hosts extended their advantage beyond 20 points in the final quarter.
Javante McCoy led Balkan with 28 points, while Darnell Edge added 26. Abell scored 21 and Curtis Jones contributed 16 for Cherno More, who failed to retain the trophy they won last season.
The new National Basketball League season starts next week.
