Trump weighs Kimberly Guilfoyle’s removal
US President Donald Trump confirmed that he is considering recalling US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle, following the publication of several damaging reports about her in recent days, EFE and Reuters report.
“Well, we’re looking into it. Yes, we’re not happy,” Trump told reporters briefly.
The Wall Street Journal, which has published several reports about Guilfoyle in recent days, wrote over the weekend that White House officials were assessing the possibility of removing her from her post in Athens, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.
According to audio recordings published by the newspaper, Guilfoyle allegedly boasted that Greek businesspeople were paying for her luxury trips. She also allegedly promised preferential treatment to an American businessman if he secured an invitation for her to attend a dinner honoring Eric Trump, the US president’s third son.
A few days earlier, the same newspaper reported that Guilfoyle had allegedly asked a Republican donor to pay off a $100,000 debt on her credit card before her Senate confirmation hearing as ambassador in July 2025. In exchange, she reportedly offered access to the White House and senior officials in President Donald Trump’s administration.
The Wall Street Journal also reported that, during a dinner with Greek and American officials in March, Guilfoyle allegedly attributed the collapse of the Romanian government led by Ilie Bolojan to pressure from the Trump administration. She reportedly said that Washington could bring about similar changes in other countries, including Greece.
Guilfoyle, the former wife of current California Governor Gavin Newsom and former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of the US president, is a former prosecutor who also worked as a guest analyst for Fox News and as an adviser and fundraiser for Donald Trump’s campaigns.
