A replica of the Infinity Gauntlet, the powerful artifact featured in Marvel films and comic books, will be auctioned in Abu Dhabi on December 8, Julien’s Auctions and East Continental Gems announced on Thursday, according to Reuters.

The oversized gauntlet, adorned with six gemstones representing the Infinity Stones, became widely recognized through the 2018 blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.

In the film, the villain Thanos uses the gauntlet to wipe out half of all life in the universe with a single snap of his fingers.

The six Infinity Stones possess extraordinary powers within the Marvel universe, each controlling a fundamental aspect of existence: Space, Mind, Soul, Reality, Power and Time.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe includes superhero films and television series featuring popular characters such as Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk and Scarlet Witch.

Replica features six real gemstones

The replica was created by East Continental Gems and features six genuine gemstones: a ruby, garnet, sapphire, amethyst, emerald and yellow diamond.

Each gemstone represents one of the fictional Infinity Stones.

Speaking to Reuters on Wednesday, Talia Friedman, Head of Special Projects at Julien’s Auctions, said the collectible could appeal to different types of buyers.

“You can buy it if you’re a passionate Marvel fan,” Friedman said.

“You can love it if you’re an avid jewelry collector. You can love it because you want this trophy,” she added.

Friedman noted that the piece could attract interest from comic book enthusiasts, jewelry collectors and art buyers alike.

Auction scheduled ahead of Avengers: Doomsday release

The gauntlet is currently on display in Bahrain and is scheduled to be auctioned at the Rosewood Abu Dhabi hotel on December 8.

The sale comes shortly before the theatrical release of Marvel’s upcoming blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled to premiere on December 18.

The timing of the auction could draw additional attention from Marvel fans and collectors ahead of the highly anticipated film’s release.
