Quentin Tarantino finishes script for final movie
Acclaimed filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has confirmed that he has completed a screenplay that could become his tenth and final movie, but says he is in no hurry to begin production, preferring to spend more time with his family and enjoy life away from filmmaking.
The Oscar-winning director, known for films such as Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, revealed the update during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, explaining that he wants to focus on other creative projects before returning to the demanding process of directing a feature film, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
Tarantino, 63, said he had written a screenplay he was enthusiastic about but wanted to complete his upcoming theatrical production before deciding on his next move.
The filmmaker is currently preparing The Popinjay Cavalier, a stage comedy starring Sacha Baron Cohen that is scheduled to open in London's West End in March 2027.
After completing the play, Tarantino plans to spend time with his family before considering whether to begin work on his final film.
He emphasized that he wants to enjoy his personal life rather than immediately commit to another lengthy production.
Tarantino has been married to Israeli singer, actress and model Daniella Pick since November 2018. The couple met in Israel in 2009 and have two children, Leo and Adriana.
His decision to take a break comes as fans continue to speculate about the project that could conclude one of Hollywood's most influential directing careers.
For years, Tarantino has maintained that he intends to retire from directing feature films after completing his tenth movie, arguing that he would prefer to end his filmmaking career while still producing work he considers meaningful.
His most recent directorial release, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, premiered in 2019 and earned widespread critical acclaim, including 10 Academy Award nominations and two wins.
The filmmaker had previously been developing The Movie Critic, which was expected to become his final feature. However, he abandoned the project in 2024 and has since explored other ideas.
Although Tarantino has now completed another screenplay, he has not confirmed whether it will ultimately become his final movie. No title, cast, production schedule or release date has been announced.
The director's latest comments suggest that audiences may have to wait several more years before seeing his final project on the big screen.
For now, Tarantino appears determined to balance his creative ambitions with family life, choosing not to rush the film that could mark the end of his directing career.
