Dua Lipa dazzles at Metropolitan Opera gala alongside Callum Turner
Albanian-born global pop star Dua Lipa attracted attention with an elegant appearance at the Metropolitan Opera’s season-opening gala in New York, accompanied by British actor Callum Turner.
The couple were among the most talked-about guests at Monday’s event, arriving hand in hand for the premiere of Lincoln in the Bardo, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
The “Houdini” singer wore a black Ferragamo gown from creative director Maximilian Davis’s spring 2027 collection.
Featuring shimmering embellishments, a dramatic side slit and off-the-shoulder sleeves, the dress combined classic elegance with a contemporary design.
Lipa completed her look with slicked-back dark hair and Ferragamo high heels.
Turner opted for a classic black suit and formal shoes. Although he did not participate in the official red-carpet procession, he accompanied Lipa throughout the evening.
Dua Lipa shares her love of opera
The Metropolitan Opera opened its season with Lincoln in the Bardo, based on George Saunders’s 2017 novel of the same name.
Set over the course of a single night, the story explores the grief of US President Abraham Lincoln following the death of his young son, Willie.
During the event, Lipa spoke about her appreciation for opera and its ability to convey powerful human emotions.
“Opera touches all our human emotions: love, grief, loss, ambition, hope and all those feelings that make it so special,” she said.
The singer added that one of opera’s greatest qualities is its ability to immerse audiences in an emotional experience.
“I think you simply have to surrender yourself to that experience, and that’s what I love so much about it,” she explained.
Lipa’s interest in opera is not new. Last month, she attended a gala at Milan’s renowned Teatro alla Scala, where she watched a performance of La Traviata.
Other guests at the Metropolitan Opera event included Amy Poehler, Bowen Yang, Andrew Nixon and Kate Walsh.
Dua Lipa reflects on marriage and her wedding
Beyond their public appearances, Lipa and Turner have continued to attract attention for their relationship.
Earlier this month, the couple were photographed strolling through New York with their dog, Golo, a Rottweiler-Labrador mix.
According to the report, the couple married earlier this year, holding a civil ceremony in May at Marylebone Town Hall in London.
A week later, they reportedly traveled to Italy for a larger wedding celebration with family and friends.
In a recent interview with Vogue Italia, Lipa described her wedding day as one of the most memorable experiences of her life.
“Our wedding day was magical,” she said.
The singer explained that she and Turner had received plenty of advice about how to enjoy their special day but ultimately decided to follow just two suggestions.
“We received a lot of advice, but we decided to follow only two things: to experience the day as though we were guests ourselves and to keep looking for each other among the people, never losing sight of one another,” she recalled.
According to Lipa, that approach allowed them to enjoy the celebration without becoming overwhelmed by the organization or other people’s expectations.
“That way, we created so many memories together,” she added.
Balancing marriage and demanding careers
Lipa also discussed how she manages her professional commitments while making time for family and personal interests.
“I’m very good at finding a balance between work, hobbies and family,” she said.
The singer emphasized that marriage had not changed her professional ambitions.
“I’ve never put my ambitions aside, and I’m lucky to be with someone who loves his work as much as I love mine. We understand and support each other,” she explained.
Lipa said their shared understanding of the creative industry plays an important role in their relationship.
“For me, he is family. Our creative language is unique. When we make decisions together, it’s as though we have the same brain. We follow the same instincts,” she said.
New relationship could inspire future music
The singer also suggested that her happiness in marriage could influence the direction of her future music.
Throughout her career, Lipa has frequently explored romantic relationships, heartbreak and disappointment in her songs.
However, she believes her current emotional circumstances could inspire a different perspective.
“It’s easier to write love songs when your heart is broken because the pain of a breakup is such a powerful and loud emotion,” she explained.
Now, she hopes to explore the quieter and more complex aspects of lasting love.
“I want to discover what happens when you truly find love. I’m interested in the complexities of a relationship, the quieter moments and the little things,” she said.
Her comments suggest that future projects could explore not only intense romantic emotions but also the intimacy and everyday experiences of a long-term relationship.
Couple discuss hopes of starting a family
Both Lipa and Turner have spoken publicly about the possibility of having children in the future.
In an interview with Esquire UK, Turner, 36, was asked whether starting a family was among his priorities for the next decade.
“Absolutely. I’m 36. I’d love to have a family and raise children,” the actor replied.
He also spoke warmly about his wedding day.
“It was wonderful. It was the best day of my life,” he said.
Turner added that finding someone with whom to share his life was a particularly meaningful experience.
“It’s beautiful to find someone you love, who loves you, and with whom you want to spend all your time,” he said.
Lipa has also previously expressed her desire to become a mother.
In an interview with British Vogue, she said she could imagine having children in the future.
“I would really love to have children one day,” she said.
However, the singer acknowledged that deciding when to start a family could be challenging because of her demanding career and international touring schedule.
“The constant question is when the right time would be, how it would fit with my work, how it would function if I were on tour and how much time I would need to take away from my professional commitments,” she explained.
She also emphasized the responsibilities involved in raising children.
“I think it’s one of those things that will happen when the time comes. I love children, but I believe raising them requires much more than simply loving children,” she said.
Possible move to the United States
According to reports, Lipa and Turner are considering relocating to the United States this year.
The potential move is reportedly linked in part to Turner’s professional commitments, with the actor expected to work on several film projects.
Meanwhile, Lipa continues to divide her time among music, fashion and cultural events.
Their appearance at the Metropolitan Opera highlighted their shared interest in the arts as they continue balancing their personal lives with international careers.
For Lipa, marriage appears to mark a new chapter that could influence both her personal priorities and her future creative work.
