Ireland confirms Eurovision 2027 boycott over Israel’s participation

Ireland formally confirmed that it will boycott the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027 for the second consecutive year in protest over Israel’s participation in the competition.

Irish public broadcaster RTÉ, which traditionally represents the country at Eurovision and broadcasts the contest, announced the decision, CE Report quotes ANSA.

The move comes amid continuing concerns in Ireland over the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip following years of Israeli military operations.

Ireland had previously announced its intention to boycott the 2027 competition on September 2.

According to the report, at least four other European countries — Spain, the Netherlands, Norway and Iceland — have also renewed their decision to boycott the contest over Israel’s participation.
