Greek L'Oréal Paris ambassador highlights dangers of constant social media comparison
Doukissa Nomikou, entrepreneur and L'Oréal Paris ambassador in Greece, took part in one of the panel discussions at the fourth edition of the "Change Makers IV" conference, organised by Vogue Greece and Kathimerini.
The discussion, entitled "The Face of Confidence: Beauty, Self-Expression and Visibility Today", featured global makeup artist Harold James and Funmi Fetto, Beauty and Wellness Director at British Vogue, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.
The panel was moderated by Vasiliki Papageorgiou, Beauty Director of the Greek edition of Vogue.
Nomikou focused particularly on the impact of social media, noting that although these platforms provide people with a voice to share their dreams, they can often become emotionally draining because of constant comparisons with others.
"Social media can give you a voice to share your dreams and provide inspiration, but they can also create pressure for everyone. The problem is comparison. And that is just one detail, not the whole story," she said.
Speaking afterwards to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA), Nomikou expressed her enthusiasm about participating in the conference.
"I am very excited to have been given this opportunity here at Vogue Changemakers to be on stage for the first time with very important people from the worlds of beauty and fashion and to share our views on interesting topics that I believe the audience listened to attentively," she said.
