Colosseum launches new season of night tours
Starting July 14, the Colosseum will once again host its evening guided tour program, "A Night at the Colosseum," offering visitors the opportunity to experience one of the most iconic monuments of ancient Rome away from the daytime crowds.
The tours, which are limited in size and led by specialized guides, provide an in-depth look at the history, architecture and stories of the monument through itineraries designed specifically for evening visits, CE Report quotes ANSA.
"With A Night at the Colosseum, the Archaeological Park reaffirms its commitment to combining conservation, research and public engagement, offering visitor experiences based on scientific accuracy and high-quality storytelling so that our heritage becomes increasingly accessible, understandable and shared with a broad and diverse audience," said Simone Quilici, Director of the Colosseum Archaeological Park.
Every Tuesday and Thursday, from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., visitors will be able to enter the Colosseum for a guided tour lasting approximately 60 minutes.
The itinerary begins at the North Arch, once the Emperor's main entrance, and continues along the first tier, the arena floor—offering a complete view of the seating area—and the underground levels, where visitors can explore the permanent exhibition "Shows in the Colosseum Arena: The Protagonists."
The tour provides a unique perspective on the monument while exploring the great spectacles of ancient Rome, from wild animal hunts (venationes) to gladiatorial contests (munera).
Advance booking is mandatory, and each tour is limited to a maximum of 25 participants.
