Sandokan wins international silver Ribbon award
"Sandokan," the hit event series broadcast on Rai1, has won the International Silver Ribbon (Nastro d'Argento Internazionale) for Best Co-Production 2026.
The award, presented this evening in Riccione in partnership with the Italian Global Series festival directed by Marco Spagnoli, completes the list of winners of the 2026 Silver Ribbon Awards for TV Series, which were presented on June 6 in Naples. At that ceremony, the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists celebrated the series' lead actor, Can Yaman, who plays a modern-day Sandokan, CE Report quotes ANSA.
The Silver Ribbon award will be accepted by the series' director, Jan Maria Michelini, and cast member John Hannah, who portrays Sergeant Murray.
"This Silver Ribbon recognizes Italy's ability to produce internationally competitive productions while preserving the strength of its own cultural identity," said Laura Delli Colli, president of the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists.
She noted that the award follows last year's first International Silver Ribbon, presented in Riccione to Academy Award-winning director Bille August and the Palomar–Rai Fiction production of The Count of Monte Cristo.
