Bulgaria wins five medals at International Physics Olympiad

Bulgaria won five medals at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), held in Bucaramanga, Colombia, the Education and Science Ministry of Bulgaria said on Monday.

The competition brought together 370 students from 87 countries, who completed one experimental task and solved three theoretical problems over two rounds, CE Report quotes BTA.

The Bulgarian national team won four silver and one bronze medals. It was led by Prof. Miroslav Abrashev and Assoc. Prof. Neno Todorov from the Faculty of Physics at Sofia University.

Founded in 1967, the IPhO is the world's most prestigious physics competition for high school students. Bulgaria is one of its founding members and has participated in every edition.
