Muriqi scores first champions league goal
Kosovo striker Vedat Muriqi has scored his first-ever goal in the UEFA Champions League, finding the net for Fenerbahçe against Olympique Lyonnais.
Muriqi scored in the 24th minute to give Fenerbahçe a 1–0 lead in the second leg of the Champions League play-off, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
He initially headed the ball toward goal, but after the Lyon goalkeeper made a save, Muriqi reacted quickly and sent the rebound into the net.
It is a special moment for the Kosovo international, who had previously played in the Champions League with Lazio but had never scored in the competition.
Muriqi had also been a key figure in the first leg against Lyon, when he came close to scoring with a header, while Fenerbahçe finished that match with a 1–1 draw.
Now, in the decisive match in France, the Kosovo “Pirate” has become the protagonist, scoring a goal that could prove crucial for Fenerbahçe in their bid to reach the Champions League league phase.
At half-time, Fenerbahçe lead 2–0.
