Bulgarian Olympic Committee President Vesela Lecheva has officially announced her candidacy for president of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF).

The former world champion and Olympic silver medallist in rifle shooting will face incumbent president Luciano Rossi, European Shooting Confederation President Alexander Ratner and Ukraine's Konstantin Pivovarov in the election, which will take place during the ISSF Congress in Rome on 13-14 December, CE Report quotes BTA.

In an open letter published on Facebook here on Monday, Lecheva highlighted her more than 40 years of experience in shooting, her international contacts and leadership background as key assets for the role.

She outlined a vision of strengthening the ISSF's position within the Olympic Movement and international sport, increasing the influence of national federations and placing athletes at the centre of the organisation's decision-making.

Lecheva said her ambition was to help shape the future of the sport through leadership, cooperation, transparency and concrete action.
