A group of ninth-grade students from Thimi Mitko Primary and Lower Secondary School in Gjilan, accompanied by their teachers and school principal, took part in an educational visit to Ujman Lake.

The purpose of the visit was to help students learn more about the lake's natural beauty, as well as its economic and tourism importance as one of Kosovo's most significant natural resources, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

“During the visit, we had the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent landscapes, while students learned more about the importance of the lake and spent enjoyable moments in nature,” said school principal Ardhmerie Jakupi Musliu, according to a statement released by the municipality of Gjilan.

She noted that for many of the students, it was their first visit to Ujman Lake, making the experience especially memorable.

According to the principal, the activity was considered an important educational experience that helped broaden students' knowledge and improve their understanding of Kosovo's natural heritage.

The visit was organized as part of the school's educational and recreational activities.

The municipal announcement was seen as somewhat unusual, as local governments do not often issue statements about student visits within Kosovo.

Located in northwestern Kosovo, in the municipality of Zubin Potok and near the border with Serbia, Ujman Lake has long been a popular destination, especially among residents of northern Kosovo.

Since the end of the Kosovo war, the lake and its surrounding scenery were visited less frequently by Kosovo Albanians. However, visits have increased over the past two years as the security situation in the area has improved following actions by Kosovo authorities against Serbian parallel structures and organized crime groups. For some visitors, trips to the lake are now viewed as having a symbolic or patriotic significance.
