Barbara Berlusconi rejects mafia claims against father as ‘implausible’
“I find it intolerable that, even today, implausible and ridiculous claims made by people who have been responsible for the most heinous crimes — and who now even speak as free men — are being used to fuel yet another attempt at damnatio memoriae against my father.”
Barbara Berlusconi made the statement in response to comments by former Mafia boss Giovanni Brusca, who was questioned as a witness in the trial in Florence, CE Report quotes ANSA.
“For more than thirty years,” she added, “theories, insinuations and suspicions fueled by the usual prosecutors have continued to circulate.
The evidence, however, continues to be missing. The Baiardo trial,” she continued, “has turned into a second trial concerning the 1993–94 massacres, bringing back accusations against Berlusconi and Dell’Utri that had already been dismissed.
It is simply a surreal judicial affair. My father can no longer defend himself. Precisely for this reason, we will continue to defend him ourselves whenever necessary.”
