Ukraine, Norway discuss air defense, interceptor missiles, FREYJA program

During his visit to Norway, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed a number of important issues related to strengthening Ukraine’s defense with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

The President of Ukraine said this in a post on Facebook, CE Report quotes Ukrinform.

“I had a good meeting with the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre. I expressed my condolences on the passing of His Majesty King Harald V,” he said.

The Ukrainian President emphasized that Ukraine greatly values all the support from the royal family and the Norwegian people.

The leaders discussed strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses, the need for interceptor missiles, further work on the FREYJA anti-ballistic program, and preparing Ukraine for the winter.

“Thank you, Jonas, for the meeting and your unwavering support for our people,” Volodymyr Zelensky said.

The Office of the President added that the two leaders also coordinated diplomatic steps for the near future.

As reported, in the evening of September 8, the President of Ukraine and his wife arrived in Norway to attend a farewell ceremony for King Harald V.
