Thessaloniki Metro Travel Card Issues to Be Resolved Soon, Says Minister

Politics

The issue with the issuance of personalized travel cards for the Thessaloniki Metro will be fully resolved within the next two weeks, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Christos Staikouras announced during a budget debate in parliament on Friday. He assured that the long queues currently seen at ticket offices will soon disappear, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

Staikouras attributed the delay to an unexpected problem with system synchronization, which the French contractor is actively working to address.

Despite these challenges, the Thessaloniki Metro has recorded more than 600,000 journeys in the first 11 days of operation. "The Thessaloniki Metro is functioning well in terms of safety, travel time, and passenger movement. However, we acknowledge the issues and are working with the contractors to resolve them," the minister said.
