
Greece Aims to Lead in Tech and AI
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in an interview with Les Échos, highlighted Greece’s growing strengths in technology and innovation, pointing to significant digital progress since 2019, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonia
The French financial newspaper noted that Mitsotakis has prioritized digital transformation, particularly through the Gov.gr platform, which now handles over 1.4 billion digital transactions annually.
Mitsotakis said Greece aims for tech and innovation to contribute up to 10% of GDP and sees potential for the country to become a European leader in AI. He emphasized Greece's centralized governance model as a strategic advantage in managing tech projects and highlighted new initiatives like an AI-powered Cadastre system and the recently launched Personal Citizen Number.
“We want to lead in AI innovation, especially in public administration,” he stated, underlining the economic potential of digital modernization.
