
North Macedonia Moves to Equip and Transform Maneuver Battalions
Enhancement of bilateral cooperation between the Macedonian and Hungarian armies, the process of the Army's transformation and modernization, and cooperation between the countries' special forces are in the focus of Wednesday's discussions between Army Chief of Staff, Major-General Sashko Lafchiski and Hungarian Defence Forces Chief of Staff, General Gabor Berendi, CE Report quotes MIA.
General Lafchiski said the Hungarian Armed Forces will be offered to use the capacities of the Krivolak army field for training purposes.
"They have been here in Ohrid for a couple of weeks, doing training for special operation units, namely diving," said Lafchiski.
According to him, members of the General Staff will also present plans for modernization and transformation of the Army, as well as seek support from the Hungarian army.
"Transformation of the conventional forces is an ongoing process. The first stage of a light infantry battalion group has been completed, we are now moving to the second phase of equipping and transforming the remaining maneuvering battalions," noted Lafchiski.
The Chief of Staff said the Army's combat readiness is at a high level, adding that the staff and funds allocated for the armed forces would rise in the coming period.
