Zagreb boosts newborn grant as part of family support measures
The newborn grant from the previous mandate of Zagreb’s left-green administration is the same for every child; the amount of €800 is about three and a half times higher than the grant previously given for a first child and twice as high as the grant for a second child.
It was highlighted at a session of the Zagreb City Assembly, CE Report quotes HINA.
The president of the Zagreb City Assembly, Matej Mišić (SDP), said that the newborn grant will be increased from €600 to €800 at the next Assembly session, while Mayor Tomislav Tomašević announced that a new swimming pool, stadium, and tram line will be completed this year.
“In public consultation, the newborn grant is being increased from €600 to €800. The consultation is nearing its end, so I believe we will increase the grant already at the January session. When I had a child just under four years ago, the grant for the first child was around €250,” Mišić said at a press conference at the City Assembly.
The newborn grant from the previous mandate is equal for every child. The amount of €800, Mišić emphasized, is about three and a half times higher than the grant previously given for a first child and twice as high as the grant for a second child.
“In this mandate, we plan to build a total of four homes for the elderly, and through the budget we have allocated €890,000 for two homes for the elderly in Prečko and Špansko,” Mišić said.
