The Register of Road Transport Operators of the Republic of Moldova will be updated and aligned with European Union standards. To this end, the Government today approved amendments that will allow additional information to be introduced on transport companies, the vehicles they use, and compliance with industry regulations, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

At present, the national register does not contain all the data required under European regulations. The information to be added will include details on rented vehicles, operators’ risk levels, the status of transport managers, and serious violations committed.

The data will be structured in a standardized format, allowing authorities to gain a clearer picture of operators’ activities and monitor the road transport market more effectively.

“An important component of the reform is the creation of the technical and information infrastructure needed to interconnect the integrated system of the National Road Transport Agency with the European Register of Road Transport Undertakings (ERRU). This interconnection will enable the exchange of information with European Union member states and facilitate the verification of data on transport operators engaged in international activities. Thus, the measure represents another step in harmonizing the national road transport system with European Union requirements and practices,” the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development explained.

The new system will also help automate administrative processes, reduce manual operations, and enable the use of compatible data between the national and European systems.

Authorities estimate that updating the register will strengthen oversight of the road transport market and contribute to more effective enforcement of regulations, including for operators serving international routes.
