NASA congratulates Greece on first astronaut mission to ISS

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman congratulated Greece on the upcoming mission that will send the country’s first Greek astronaut to the International Space Station, while highlighting the country’s role in shaping the future of space exploration.

"Congratulations to Greece on its upcoming private astronaut mission and its first journey to the International Space Station," Isaacman said in a post on X.

The head of the US space agency’s intervention follows an agreement signed by the European Space Agency (ESA), on behalf of Greece, and US company Vast for the participation of Adrianos Golemis in a private crewed mission to the International Space Station, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.

The NASA administrator linked the mission to Greece’s broader cooperation with the United States in the space sector, making particular reference to the country’s participation in the Artemis Accords.

"As a partner in the Artemis Accords, Greece is already helping shape the future of exploration. With this mission, it is contributing to creation of a sustainable LEO economy," he said.
