During an inspection of the Vertical Gas Corridor construction near Mikrevo, Southwestern Bulgaria, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov emphasized the project’s political significance and role in diversifying gas transmission for Central and Southeastern Europe, CE Report quotes BTA

He noted that such infrastructure goes beyond traditional ideas of sovereignty and competitiveness, offering long-term opportunities for energy security. The Prime Minister highlighted that political will enables these investments, addressing current energy challenges and supporting the region’s energy independence for decades.

Zhelyazkov stated: "Energy supply and affordable energy are not matters of political debate but of better lives for our citizens and better business for our economies."

The Vertical Gas Corridor aims to enhance energy security and provide diversified natural gas sources for Bulgaria and the Southeast European region.
