Moldova's Day-Ahead Market (DAM), operated by OPEM, recorded a record volume of electricity trading on June 30, with 542 MWh exchanged, equivalent to approximately 4% of the country's average daily electricity consumption, MOLDPRES reported.

The average trading price stood at €99/MWh, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

On the same day, electricity transactions of at least 1 MWh were recorded in 23 out of 24 hourly trading intervals, reflecting the growing participation of renewable energy producers and the effective functioning of market mechanisms.

OPEM is the electricity market operator in the Moldova, and the Day-Ahead Market (DAM) was launched in December 2025, providing market participants with a transparent and competitive platform for buying and selling electricity for the following day.

Moldova's electricity market consists of the bilateral contracts market and several organized market segments, including the Day-Ahead Market (DAM), the Intraday Market (IDM), the balancing electricity market, and the system services market.

According to the Ministry of Energy of Moldova, 96 companies currently hold electricity supply licenses in the country. However, only three suppliers are active on the competitive, unregulated market, with market shares of 1.52%, 0.14%, and 0.34%, respectively. The ministry expects the share of suppliers operating in the unregulated electricity market to increase significantly.

Operatorul Pieței de Energie M (OPEM) SRL, a subsidiary of OPCOM of Romania, was appointed as Moldova's electricity market operator by a government decision at the beginning of 2024.
