Olympic effect boosts Milano Fashion Week visitor numbers

The Olympic effect is also being felt at Milano Fashion Week, scheduled from February 24 to March 2. According to estimates by the Confcommercio Milano, Lodi, Monza e Brianza Research Center, visitor numbers are expected to rise by 17.4% compared to last year, while tourism spending is projected to increase by 17.7%, reaching 132,200 arrivals — 44.7% of them from abroad — and €217.4 million in total expenditure.

Average spending per visitor will amount to €1,644, up 0.2%. Overall, €100 million will go toward shopping, €84.8 million to dining and accommodation, and €32.6 million to transportation, CE Report quotes ANSA.

“The growth in the economic impact of **Milano Fashion Week>,” noted Confcommercio Milan Secretary General Marco Barbieri, “confirms Milan’s strong international appeal.”

The overlap with the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games>, he added, “amplifies visibility, tourist flows, and economic opportunities for the entire urban system. It strengthens Milan’s role as a global platform where major sporting and creative events generate development, innovation, and competitiveness for the region.”
