Bosnian Canton discusses school screenings of documentary on Goražde siege
The Minister of Education, Youth, Science, Culture and Sports of the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Goražde, Adisa Alikadić-Herić, held a meeting with Fiona Lloyd-Davies, a journalist, filmmaker and author of the feature-length documentary “UNCONQUERED: Goražde, City of Heroes.”
The meeting was held to discuss the documentary, which tells the story of the siege of Goražde and the resilience of its residents through testimonies from civilians, defenders, medical personnel, international officials, as well as other participants and witnesses of the wartime events.
The film also includes archival material that, as noted, has not previously been available to the public, CE Report informs via the Ministry of Education, Youth, Science, Culture and Sports of the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Goražde's official website.
Particular attention was devoted to cooperation in the fields of education and culture, as well as ways in which the film could be presented to students and the wider public in the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Goražde following the completion of production. In this context, the participants discussed the organization of school and public screenings, discussions, workshops and other educational activities aimed at bringing local history and the wartime experiences of generations who lived through the war and siege of Goražde closer to young people.
During the meeting, a proposal for a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Education, Youth, Science, Culture and Sports of the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Goražde and production company Studio 9 Films Ltd was also presented. The memorandum would establish a framework for joint educational, cultural and public activities related to the documentary.
Ideas were also exchanged on involving educational and cultural institutions in the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Goražde in future activities, as well as on the importance of the documentary in preserving the memory of Goražde’s history and the experiences of its residents and passing them on to future generations.
Fiona Lloyd-Davies has spent more than three decades researching and documenting stories and experiences related to Bosnia and Herzegovina. She is producing “UNCONQUERED: Goražde, City of Heroes” in cooperation with creative teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United Kingdom and the United States.
