The selection of the Greek projects participating in the Venice Gap-Financing Market, Venice Immersive Market and Biennale College Cinema – Immersive was carried out by the Venice Production Bridge and the Venice Biennale, respectively, within the framework of the agreement established for the selection and presentation of Greek projects as part of the Focus on Greece programme.

This was said by the source at ΕΚΚΟΜΕΔ (Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center) in an exclusive interview with CE Report.

All Greek projects presented at the Venice Gap-Financing Market have already received production support through EKKOMED funding programmes. In addition, the projects have benefited from the dedicated funding scheme supporting works in progress.

EKKOMED’s participation in the Venice Production Bridge is part of Greece’s broader strategy to strengthen the international positioning of the Greek audiovisual sector and facilitate new co-production, financing and distribution opportunities for Greek projects and companies.

In this context, the “Greece on Screen” initiative forms part of a broader five-year strategic framework for the international promotion and development of the Greek audiovisual sector, with a particular focus on attracting international partners, strengthening industry networks and creating opportunities for Greek content and talent in international markets.

Beyond the projects selected for the different market sections, the wider “Focus on Greece” programme brings together representatives of Greek audiovisual companies and organisations across the Venice Production Bridge programme.

The Greek participation includes audiovisual professionals representing companies involved in projects presented at the Venice Gap-Financing Market, participants in the immersive programmes, representatives taking part in the programme’s professional panels, as well as representatives of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival and a Greek company participating in the Meet the Streamers programme.

The participation of Greece as Focus Country at the Venice Production Bridge 2026 is part of EKKOMED’s broader strategic planning for the international development and promotion of the Greek audiovisual sector through 2030.

The success of the initiative will therefore be assessed not only in terms of immediate commercial outcomes, but also through indicators such as the international visibility of Greek projects and talent, the development of international industry contacts and partnerships, access to financing and co-production opportunities, and the strengthening of the presence of Greek audiovisual companies in international markets.

The outcomes of the initiative will be evaluated as part of EKKOMED’s broader strategic framework and reporting mechanisms. At this stage, no specific date has been set for the publication of a separate results report dedicated exclusively to the Venice Focus Country initiative.
