The Bucharest City Hall will launch the winter holiday season on Saturday, with the opening of the Christmas Market in Constitution Square.

Also on Saturday, the holiday lights will be switched on, and the Bucharest Downtown Christmas Market in University Square will open, according to a statement released Wednesday by the Bucharest City Hall (PMB), CE Report quotes AGERPRES.

Thus, on Saturday starting at 5:00 p.m., the 18th edition of the Christmas Market in Constitution Square — “the largest event” in Romania dedicated to the winter holidays — will open, organized by the City Hall through CREART.

“A true cultural and tourist landmark, the market brings together the Bucharest community and visitors from around the world in a festive setting that celebrates tradition and the spirit of Christmas. For 30 days, the Bucharest Christmas Market will welcome the public with the tallest ecological Christmas tree in the country, ‘Santa’s House’, a panoramic wheel, a two-story carousel, theatre performances, and many attractions for children,” PMB states.

The market will feature more than 120 chalets with culinary delights and handcrafted products. The artistic program will enhance the atmosphere in Constitution Square with traditional performances, customs, carols, and concerts.

Also on Saturday, at 6:00 p.m., the festive lights in the capital will be officially switched on from Constitution Square.

“From the stage of the Bucharest Christmas Market, the Radio Children’s Choir, the ‘Lumini Sonore’ Orchestra with Ozana Barabancea, Theo Rose, and Smiley will open the festive season,” the statement adds.

On November 30, the stage in Constitution Square will host: Mădălina Lupu & Band, Shift, Lora, and Connect-R.

On National Day, December 1, starting at 12:00 p.m., children are invited to interactive workshops at Santa’s House. The evening will be dedicated to Romanian traditions. The National Orchestra “Valahia,” conducted by Marius Zorilă, will accompany renowned soloists in a folkloric performance, and at 9:00 p.m., Fuego will conclude the special program dedicated to Romania’s National Day.

On November 29, the Municipality, through CREART, in partnership with the FoodTruck Festival, will open the city’s second Christmas market, in University Square.

“For 30 days, the city’s Kilometer Zero becomes a vibrant space where the festive spirit blends with urban dynamism. Food trucks with international dishes, urban mixes, a carousel, a Christmas tree, and light installations will shape the atmosphere of a metropolis in full celebration. Between November 29 and December 28, Bucharest becomes the Capital of Winter Holidays — a place where tradition meets modernity and the magic of Christmas is lived together. Entry is free,” PMB announces.
