Cardi B has been cleared of all charges in a civil lawsuit filed in Los Angeles by a doctor’s security guard, Emani Ellis, who had sued the rapper for $24 million, claiming Cardi B scratched her face with a fingernail during an altercation in 2018, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

At the time, Cardi B was four months pregnant, a fact that was not yet public. The trial gained attention for its viral moments, including Cardi B’s daily outfit and wig changes during her court appearances.

According to the BBC, Cardi B denied any physical contact, saying Ellis followed and filmed her during a private appointment, leaving her feeling mistreated.

After only about an hour of deliberation, the jury found Cardi B not liable for assault, battery, emotional distress, negligence, or false imprisonment.

After the verdict, Cardi B said: “I work hard for my money, my kids, and the people I love. Don’t think you can sue me and I’ll just settle.”

She also asked her fans not to harass Ellis or her family.

During closing arguments, Cardi B wore a black and white polka dot suit with a red bow, and her nail length became a topic during the trial.

Because this was a civil, not criminal, case, the jury only had to decide if Cardi B should be held financially responsible and, if so, how much to award Ellis.

In the end, the jury awarded Ellis nothing, and Cardi B was fully exonerated. Outside the LA courtroom, some fans gathered to support the rapper.
