Actor and musician Stefan Valdobrev and his band, The Usual Suspects, unveiled their new project The Acoustics of Bulgaria at a press event hosted by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) on Thursday. The initiative blends music and heritage by recording songs in iconic historical and natural sites across Bulgaria, CE Report quotes BTA

Valdobrev described the project as a long-time dream, combining his love for Bulgaria's landscapes with his passion for music. The idea was born during his travels across the country, where inspiration struck in unexpected moments—like the echo of a kicked pebble in a fortress.

Instead of traditional studios, the band chose emotionally significant locations to record: the ancient church in Dobarsko, the Zemen Monastery, Perperikon, Veliko Tarnovo, the Ancient Theatre and Great Basilica in Plovdiv, among others.

Percussionist Stoyan Yankoulov emphasized the emotional power of hearing music born in these meaningful spaces. “Listeners won’t just hear the songs—they’ll feel the places,” he said.

BTA Director General Kiril Valchev affirmed the agency’s support, calling the project an inspiration for young Bulgarians. BG Radio Executive Director Nikolay Yanchovichin echoed the sentiment, praising the project’s alignment with the station's motto: “The modern Bulgarian spirit that knows its traditions.”

Deputy Culture Minister Todor Chobanov applauded the fusion of music and cultural heritage, calling it “a perfect example of socializing history through art.”

BTA has formed numerous musical partnerships in recent years and will now add Valdobrev’s project to its growing cultural initiatives.
