Ryanair Raises Bonuses for Staff Catching Oversized Baggage
The Irish low-cost airline Ryanair will now offer higher bonuses to its staff for catching passengers trying to board with oversized luggage, CE Report quotes BTA.
“I want our employees to catch people trying to cheat our system,” said CEO Michael O’Leary, as quoted by the Dutch news outlet NU.nl.
Previously, Ryanair offered €1.50 per bag as a bonus; now, that amount is increased to €2.50 per bag. The monthly cap of €80 has also been removed.
Last month, British media reported Ryanair's satisfaction with the policy, noting the company was considering increasing the reward.
Ryanair is well-known for its strict baggage rules. Passengers who arrive at the gate with bags exceeding allowed dimensions must pay an additional fee. O’Leary expressed continued surprise at how many people still attempt to sneak large bags on board undetected.
