Chișinău Airport warns passengers to check flight status

Travel

Adverse weather conditions are disrupting air traffic at Chișinău Airport, causing significant delays for departures and arrivals. Departing flights are experiencing delays ranging from 20 minutes to an hour, affecting flights to major destinations.

Among the affected routes are flights to London, Bucharest, Frankfurt, Bratislava, and Paris. For arrivals, the flight from Bucharest is delayed by 35 minutes, now expected at 14:40, and the flight from Bologna by 30 minutes, scheduled at 18:10, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

According to the administration of Chișinău “Eugen Doga” International Airport, aircraft on the ground require a special de-icing procedure, a mandatory step before takeoff. This procedure removes ice deposits and prevents their formation on critical aircraft surfaces, which is essential for ensuring flights operate under maximum safety conditions.

Airport officials note that the de-icing process can extend the preparation time for aircraft, potentially causing delays in flight operations. In these circumstances, flight schedules may be adjusted depending on the evolution of the weather and operational needs.

The administration of Chișinău “Eugen Doga” International Airport emphasizes that passenger and crew safety remains the top priority, and all necessary measures are being applied to maintain airport operations under maximum security conditions.

Passengers are advised to regularly check the flight status on the airport’s online board before heading to the terminal to get updated information on possible delays or changes to flights.
