The number of tourists increased by 10.2 percent from January to July 2025, and our strategy is for Macedonia to develop as a regional tourism hub that combines economic growth, cultural promotion and international visibility, said Minister of Culture and Tourism Zoran Ljutkov, who attended an event on "Tourism and Sustainable Transformation" in Krishevo on Saturday on the occasion of September 27 - World Tourism Day, CE Report quotes MIA.

"From January to July this year, 730,793 tourists visited North Macedonia, which is an increase of 10.2% compared to the same period last year. In terms of foreign tourists, we see a significant growth of 15.1%, which confirms the positive dynamics of international interest in North Macedonia as a tourist destination. The total number of nights spent in this period is 1,750,979, which is an increase of 5.5% compared to the previous year. Visitors from Turkey, Serbia, Poland and the Netherlands are among the top tourists to the country. These data clearly show that North Macedonia is becoming an increasingly attractive tourist destination, especially for foreign markets. This is the result of the active policies and promotions that we are implementing, but also proof that the tourist image of our country is changing in a positive direction," Ljutkov said addressing the event.

Tourism for North Macedonia is a matter of strategic importance. Our geographical position - at the crossroads of the Balkans, where European Corridors 8 and 10 intersect - allows us to be a transit centre, and much more than that.

"Our goal is for travellers passing through the country to become guests, and for guests to become ambassadors of North Macedonian culture, nature and gastronomy. This is part of our strategy: North Macedonia to develop as a regional tourism hub that combines economic growth, cultural promotion and international visibility," said Minister of Culture and Tourism Zoran Ljutkov.

The event presented the tourist opportunities and capacities of Krushevo, as well as its gastronomic specialities, as a unique aspect of tradition and culture that attracts visitors and tourists. In addition, Krushevo presented all the advantages of its natural resources for mountain and alternative tourism.
