On Monday morning, UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham, Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden, Moldovan President Maia Sandu, Estonian President Alar Karis, and European Council President António Costa arrived in the Ukrainian capital.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha posted on X, CE Report quotes Ukrinform.

“This morning, at Kyiv’s railway station, we were pleased to welcome our allies who joined us to celebrate 35 years since Ukraine restored its independence. Welcome to Kyiv, Andy Burnham, Luc Frieden, Maia Sandu, Alar Karis, and António Costa. For Ukraine, independence is not an abstract idea. We have defended it despite all the difficulties. At times like these, countries understand how important it is to have allies by their side,” the post said.

Sybiha added that Ukrainians now know exactly who their true friends are.

“And today, we know for sure who our true friends are. We are deeply grateful to all our partners who have stood with Ukraine, strengthened our ability to defend ourselves, and helped us preserve the freedom we fought so hard to regain. Your support is part of Ukraine’s strength,” the minister said.

On August 24, Ukraine celebrates the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of Independence.
