UEFA backs North Macedonia's new football development strategy
The Football Federation of North Macedonia (FFM), in cooperation with UEFA, launched the process of developing a new strategy for the development of Macedonian football earlier this year.
As part of the process, a working meeting was held between FFM President Masar Omeragić and federation representatives involved in drafting the new strategy, together with UEFA representatives Ilija Kitić and Oleksandr Kucheryavyi, as well as mentors Adam Walker and Marcus McDonald.
The meeting focused on presenting and analyzing the current state of the federation, with particular emphasis on FFM's financial stability, CE Report informs via the FFM's official website.
The analysis of income and expenditure showed that the FFM must continue pursuing a strict policy of rational spending and cost-saving by further reducing non-productive and non-football-related expenses. Although significant cuts have already been made in certain areas, greater financial discipline will be required to ensure the federation's long-term sustainability. The recommendations call for every expense that does not directly contribute to football development to be reviewed and rationalized.
As a foundation for the new strategy, the FFM has completed the mapping of football infrastructure and pitches across the country. For the first time, strategic decisions will be based on concrete data through analysis of the infrastructure mapping, demographic indicators and other relevant information. This approach will allow investments and development projects to be directed to areas where there is the greatest need and potential.
All key stakeholders in Macedonian football are involved in drafting the strategy, including professional clubs, grassroots football representatives, coaches, referees, match officials, players, supporters and partners. Drawing on their views, ideas and experience, the FFM aims to build a shared vision and clearly defined strategic goals that will guide the development of Macedonian football over the next five years.
Throughout the process, the FFM is receiving full support from UEFA, which is providing expertise and methodology tailored to the specific needs and challenges of Macedonian football. At the same time, the federation is gaining access to European best practices and experience, helping ensure that the new strategy is realistic, sustainable and ambitious, with the clear objective of taking Macedonian football to the next level of development.
