Colombian singer Shakira and Nigerian artist Burna Boy will perform "Dai Dai", the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, during the opening ceremony on June 11 at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, FIFA announced, according to EFE.

Shakira and Burna Boy will headline a show featuring other stars, including Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná, and Tyla. These artists and groups will also contribute to the official FIFA World Cup 2026 album.

FIFA emphasized that the promotion of the song will provide significant support for its programs aimed at helping children around the world.

"'Dai Dai' is the official World Cup anthem, which also supports the FIFA Fund and Global Citizen for Education, an initiative that aims to raise $100 million by the end of the tournament to provide children worldwide with access to football and quality education," FIFA said in a statement.

The opening ceremony will begin one hour before the opening match between Mexico and South Africa. Mexico will host the first of three opening ceremonies planned for the tournament, which is being co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The other host nations will also feature world-renowned performers.

This will be the fourth time Shakira has performed a song associated with the FIFA World Cup. At Germany 2006, she performed a version of "Hips Don't Lie - Bamboo". At South Africa 2010, she captivated audiences worldwide with her iconic hit "Waka Waka", and at Brazil 2014 she performed "La La La" during the closing ceremony at Maracanã Stadium.

In addition to appearing at the opening ceremony, Shakira is also scheduled to perform at the World Cup final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, alongside American singer Madonna and other artists.
