Bulgarian Olympic Committee, Erasmus+ agency launch strategic partnership
The Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC) and the Human Resources Development Centre (HRDC) – the Bulgarian National Agency for the Erasmus+ Programme – have signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation, launching a new model for interaction between European opportunities and the Olympic movement, said HRDC.
The document was signed by BOC President Vesela Lecheva and HRDC Executive Director Nikolay Spasov.
The partnership is particularly significant as the Erasmus+ Programme has a dedicated Sport sector through which the European Union supports international cooperation, grassroots sport, physical activity, social inclusion, equal opportunities and integrity in sport, CE Report quotes BTA.
The BOC and HRDC will also work together to promote Olympic and European values, including fair play, respect, solidarity, equality, inclusion and the pursuit of excellence. The memorandum will encourage more active participation by Bulgarian sports federations, clubs, coaches, athletes, volunteers and organisations in European projects, partnerships, training programmes and mobility opportunities.
The partnership will support the organization of joint national and international events, forums, training sessions, information campaigns and sports initiatives, as well as the promotion of successful Bulgarian and European Erasmus+ projects. Athletes, Olympians and coaches may also be engaged as ambassadors for the values of sport, education and European cooperation.
“With this memorandum, we are bringing together the strength of the Olympic movement and the opportunities that Europe offers through Erasmus+. Our shared goal is for Bulgarian sport to become an even more active participant in European cooperation, while giving more young people, athletes, coaches and organizations the opportunity to develop their potential, exchange experience and become part of a community based on respect, fair play, solidarity and the pursuit of excellence,” Nikolay Spasov and Vesela Lecheva said.
The partnership will make Erasmus+ an even more accessible tool for the Bulgarian sports community and establish a sustainable link between sport, education, youth and European cooperation, said HRDC.
