Angelina Jolie visits boxing club in Ukraine

American actress Angelina Jolie made a surprise visit to a boxing club in Kharkiv during her latest trip to Ukraine, the country’s National Boxing Federation and the club’s owner said on Monday, according to AFP.

In a photograph published by the federation, Jolie and Knox, her 18-year-old son with actor Brad Pitt, can be seen posing inside a boxing gym, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.

“Famous actress Angelina Jolie visited the Spadkoyemets boxing club in Kharkiv,” the federation said in a post on Instagram.

“Her son Knox joined Ukrainian boxers in a Muay Thai training session at the club,” it added.

The club’s owner, Pavlo Tchychko, said he had not known that a recent booking of the gym was for Angelina Jolie.

“To everyone who asked me — this is not a joke, nor is it artificial intelligence. It happened completely by chance: Angelina Jolie, much to our delight, stopped by our gym,” he said in a video posted on Instagram.

“She congratulated us, said she liked our gym, and we thanked her. She asked my son how long he had been practicing the sport,” he continued.

“What class! And her son is the same. He shook hands, again and again… It was really great!” he added.

The Hollywood star, who previously served as a UN special envoy for refugees, has made at least two trips to Ukraine since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of the country in 2022.

Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, is located in the northeast, close to the Russian border, and has been regularly bombarded since the beginning of the conflict.
